I promised my daughter

Twelve people have walked on the moon. The moon is 402,000 kilometers from earth. The last [अंतिम / अंतिम] person to walk on the moon was Astronaut [अंतरिक्ष यात्री / अंतराळवीर] Gene Cernan. He walked on the moon in 1972. That is more than 40 years ago. At that time the computers on the spaceship [अंतरिक्ष यान / नर्तिका खूपच आवडलेली दिसतेय] had less power than a mobile phone today!

Astronaut Cernan and astronaut Jack Schmitt lived on the moon 3 days. They walked on the moon collecting [इकट्ठा करना / गोळा करणे ] rocks and dust [धूल / धूळ].  They walked on the moon 22 hours and walked about 36 kilometers. They collected almost 115 kilograms of rocks [चट्टान / खडक] and dust! At night, they lived in their “moon home” called the Lunar Lander. You can see the Lunar Lander in the photo at the left. The moon car they rode [ride: जल पर तैरना / सायकल] in was called the Lunar Rover.

The one thing Astronaut Cernan remembers [याद रखना / लक्षात ठेवा] the most is how beautiful earth looked from the moon. But the thing his daughter remembers most is that her father kept [keep: रखना / ठेवा] his promise [वादा / वचन]. She asked her father to write her initials [शब्द के आदि अक्षर / आद्याक्षरे] on the moon. He wrote TDC on the moon: Teresa Dawn Cernan. Dawn, in English, means when the sun comes up. [भोर / पहाट]

After Astronaut Cernan wrote his daughter's initials on the moon it was time for him to go home. He said it was really hard [कठिन / कठीण]. He did not want to go home so soon. He wanted to stay [रहना / राहतील] a little longer.

Teresa was 9 years old when her father wrote her initials on the moon. They will be there millions [लाखों] of years! Someday, will someone else go to the moon and find [पता लगाना / सापडणे] them?  What do you think?
Now, here is a question for you!

If you went to the moon, would you leave a message [संदेश] behind for someone else to find?! What would you write?!
