Let's make our own toys!
1) You will need: a ruler, 1 piece of heavy (जड) paper 12 cm tall and 10 cm wide, a clothespin, a pencil, scissors, colored pens and glue (सरस).
You also need a clothespin.
2) Draw an egg on the paper and a little bird like you see in the picture. The width (रुंदी) of the egg should be half (1/2) the length (लांबी) of your clothespin. If the clothespin is 8 cm, how wide will your egg be? The bird should be half (1/2) the width of the egg. How wide will the bird be?
Answers:
If the clothespin is 8 cm long
. . . the egg will be 4 cm wide
. . . and the bird will be 2 cm wide
3) Cut out the egg and color the bird. Draw a line to make the egg look broken (तुटलेली). Cut the egg along this line.
5) Glue the bird to the inside (आत) of the bottom of the egg. Then glue the bird and egg to the bottom half of the clothespin.
***When you glue the bottom half of the egg to the clothespin be sure it fits (फिट) exactly (नक्की) with the top.
You can make many toys like these:
What other toys could you make?
Here are some questions for you to answer:
1) What did you learn from making this toy?
2) What would happen if you made the bird too big?
3) What would happen if you did not glue the parts carefully (با دقت)?
4) Look carefully at a clothespin. Do you know how it works? What makes it open and close?
