Bird toy

To make this toy, first watch the video:

1) You will need wire, a small, heavy piece of paper, colored pens, scissors, and one matchbox.

2) On the piece of paper, draw a bird the size of the matchbox.  Then draw the other shape. This will hold the bird.

3)  If you do not have heavy paper. Make 2 birds and glue them together.  Then color your bird your favorite color!

4) Cut a piece of paper the size of the matchbox. Color it green.  Glue (सरस) it on to the box. Cut out the piece for the bird to sit on. Color it green.  Fold it as you see in picture #2.  Then make 2 small holes at the top.

5)  Bend open a paper clip  or use a piece of wire to attach the bird to the perch.

Then glue the bird to the box.

6)  Attach a piece of wire to the bird’s tail and to the end of the inside box, like you see in the picture.

7) When you close the box, the bird eats. When you open the box, the bird sits up and sings!

Here are some questions for you to answer:
1) Why does the bird have to be made of heavy paper?
2) Why does the bird sit up when you close the box?
3) What did you learn from making this toy?
